Shopping
Looking for quality ceramics and
other souvenirs from Valencia? Then you'll find that the
city center houses several main shopping streets including
La Paz, Colon and Plaza Ayuntamiento where
rows of stylish shops with latest design trends are easy to
spot. The Plaza Redonda behind Plaza de la Reina is
a place to go on Sunday morning as there is bustling
commercial activity here every week with all kind of goods
imaginable including fresh produce, food, Spanish
handicrafts and other knickknacks. Shops along Calle Don
Juan de Austria and Calle Colón are also worth
checking out.
Dining
For cheap eating, stick to the Barrio del Carmen.
Going more upmarket, you have plenty of choice because
Valencia is a hot spot for business conferences and seminars
hence the areas around one of the city's plazas offer pretty
good eateries. Seafood and Valencia's traditional Paella
are served at many restaurants, but Valencia's dining scene
is also enriched with international cuisines as well as
modern fast food chains.
Nightlife
If you'd
like to enjoy nightlife in Valencia, do not show up before 1
am as the earliest since there's hardly any bar in this city
open before that. For bar crawling, the district of
Barrio del Carmen has plenty of late night bars and pubs
with trendy music and delicious tapas to accommodate.
Avenida de Aragón, Plaza Cánovas Castillo, El Carmen, Juan
Llorens and Avenida de Aragón represent districts
where plenty of locals of any kind and of young people who
want to have fun frequent at night. If you are searching
for discotheques, the areas to visit are Viveros, Avenida
Blasco Ibañez and in Avenida Primado Reig. Being
near the beach, you also have an advantage to head to the
harbor and Avenida de Neptuno where abundant of bars
and restaurants offer great summer terraces for those
yearning for breezy, open-air venues. |
